I think anyone who rides a mountain bike is driven by challenge is some way or another. It might be distance, pace or place. It could be map-reading, fork-servicing or camp-cooking.
Opportunity and motivation to reach the sense of achievement that these challenges bring is hard to come by at the moment, but seeking out goals and ticking them off is certainly helping me through lockdowns and travel bans.
So, every Monday I am going to set a challenge for the week; something that sits between hard, achievable and a bit mad. And, crucially, it will be written up on the kitchen blackboard so my household can hold me to account.
So, this week I will run 60km. Sore legs, happy head. Come at me!
